Emerging over three years (2019-2022), Herbivore is equally a work essential to us and treated with the seriousness of the creators embarking on, after all, a sizable undertaking and a kind of an absurd joke. Taking its source from considerations about the construction possibilities and artistic freedom that the material used gave us, the project has grown to surprising proportions.
Already at the concept stage, unencumbered by almost any thematic constraints or a planned completion date, it became a child of fun of exploring the possibilities of the material, the process of shaping it, and discovering the form that emerges from it.
Although in an attempt to position ourselves as observers of our own endeavors, we commented on our efforts with a fair amount of irony, we persevered in pursuit of the one goal that ultimately gave momentum to our work – to create an object that when displayed in public space would attract attention and bring a bit of the unreal into everyday life. The resulting installation studies our unfettered creative joy and a desire to share our passion for spatial forms with broader audience.
